Have you ever been persuing your favourite watersport during the colder months and felt that searing pain across your forehead when that radical trick you have been perfecting for weeks dumps you head first into the icy water? Take heart - you are not alone! What options do you have? Give up your favourite sport and wait for warmer water? Wear one of those ridiculous, ugly full head balaclavas which makes you look like a the swamp monster from Dr. Who? Worry not - we have the answer!!!!

We took our inspiration from the snowboard test-beds and we have created a snowboarder style beanie which is practical, super efficient and funky..... After many prototypes and many visits to our test lakes we created a unique piece of headgear for all watersports enthusiasts. We even tested it at -30 degrees whilst snowboarding at Lake Placid, USA.

When we were testing the prototypes we looked for functionality, whilst staying true to the “Boarder Beanie Look”. We knew it had to stay in place regardless of the weather conditions, or speed. Many slalom water skiers reach speeds of 50 -60 miles an hour as they cut from buoy to buoy on the course. Riders of high powered jet skis will also travel at very high speeds. Windsurfers and kite surfers can also reach speeds of 50 miles an hour.
We tested many prototypes to find the right design and cut (shape). A unique self sizing band has been incorporated in to the base of the beanie to help it say firmly in place. If you do have a big spill and hit the water hard the beanie will provide some protection, and if you do lose the beanie in the fall the good news is we made it with positive buoyancy (which means it FLOATS).

The beanie may feel tight at first, this has been designed in to the beanie as we know that once wet the neoprene expands as it holds some of the trapped water. This expansion will make the beanie feel less tight.

In addition to the sizing band our unique design also uses two cut and stitched darts which run at 90 degree angles to the top seam. This helps shape the beanie and also adds the to comfort and style. Ensuring it will not lose its shape or fit, regardless of how wet it gets.

The beanie has a “no seam front” which means there is no central seam on the section of the beanie which will be worn directly over the fore head. When you have finished your sport and remove your beanie your forehead will be as smooth as a baby’s bottom, and NOT showing the marks of a heavy neoprene seam which would make it look more like a builders bottom. This “no seam front” also makes it a lot more comfortable to wear allowing you to enjoy even more time out on the water. .

Our unique design incorporates a self sizing band which is built in to the base of the beanie. This means you get a great super snug fit. We also made the beanie slightly longer in length than the original concept, this allows the wearer to fold the bottom hem up around the elasticated section to adjust the height of the beanie for the correct comfort or fashion statement. This gives the wearer the chance to customise the fit. Why not try a close fit or for those radical dudes, choose a longer beanie length to make the ultimate fashion statement.

Neoprene actually gets warmer once it is wet by using your body heat to warm the trapped water held within it’s structure. So no more freezing cold heads. This means you enjoy your sport for longer and in comfort. You also look funky.
